I am trying to get comfortable with ASP as part of a requirement for a contract I have undertaken. That being said I am much more comfortable and used to PHP.

Could someone provide a quick rundown to the basic advantages ASP has over PHP?

ASP is very similar to PHP and it's up to you which one you choose. The only advise I have is stick to Windows if you are using ASP and to UNIX/Linux if you are using PHP...

I have tried to run PHP on windows for development purposes and I never liked the way it worked on windows. So I would have to agree with the above advice.
