I'm trying to grasp the concept of it. It's a pretty novice question, but I'm new to working with databases.

Basically you can build a frontend for phpmyadmin in php, so you can easily modify it through a phpmyadmin?

Thanks for your help.

Also: I hear phpmyadmin is pretty easy to use, do you agree?

I guess you meant "frontend for MySQL"?

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I just don't know much about MySQL besides the basics of what it can do.

phpmyadmin is one of the easiest things to use for MySQL. I use it daily. And creating Databases isn't that hard it's just like writing in broken english and periods become ";" or sentences begin with { [ ( etc.

Does anybody know any good tutorials for phpmyadmin, or should I just mess around with it?

Thanks

phpmyadmin is very easy to use and most web hosting companies offer it for free with their hosting packages. I would suggest to play with it, as this will be the fastest way to learn it.

Yeah, I'll probably just play around with it.

I'm wanting to learn more about building cms's and stuff...that's the main reason why I want to learn more about it. I figure it's just good to have the general knowledge for editing purposes though.

Just experiment.
It's very easy, and its all graphical so its self-explanatory.

I dont use mySQL for ASP.Net development, but its handy if you are whipping up a quick script in php.

I agree with what many people here say... Phpmyadmin is a blessing. I wish there were an offline tool for manipulating backups as useful as PHPmyadmin.

You can do quite a lot with it. So don't be shy. Just make sure you play around with a backup database or non-live database until you get comfortable.

Always remember to make backups though.
