What program do you use to edit code?

I use Dreamweaver and TextPad.

Dreamweaver has the best syntax highlighting, but I enjoy textpad for quick jobs. It also has syntax highlighting but it's nowhere near as diverse as Dreamweaver's is. |

I usually use MS Visual Studio .NET, but sometimes for simple things I just use Notepad. I also use NoteTab (it's different than Notepad), because it has excellent functionality.

You use VS just to edit HTML etc?

I was not talking server languages.

I think VS is overkill for that, in fact i really dislike its HTML editing - I much prefer a simple text based and lightweight editor. |

I use crimsonedit. It is free, has a lot of features, and works well for me. _________________ I shine |

				| I have used Programming Notepad for quite a while but I’m starting to use Dreamweaver. There are a lot more organisation and automation tools in Dreamweaver which I think really improve productivity. |

What is "Programming Notepad"? DreamWeaver is not bd, but I always prefer hand coding for HTML/CSS. _________________ Peter

Same, and you can hand code in dreamweaver

As i said, i dont even touch the GUI options in it hehe.

It just has superior syntax highlighting for any language, its great. |

				| I don't use notepad because it cannot detect syntax error so i use dreamweaver and visual studio.net . Maybe its just that i'm not good at coding so the GUI aspects will attract me more.. |

Even if you are a good coder, it can be helpful having that GUI sometimes.

Often you just need to see something before you can tell if it works.

Although a GUI doesn't always represent what you will see in the browser, it can be very helpful. |

				| Sorry, I got the name wrong. It's actually "Programmer's Notepad" and here's a link, http://www.pnotepad.org/. I find it to be very useful for light programming tasks. |
